The differences between PET plywood and UV plywood

PET plywood is a layer of PET plastic film added to the surface of the board. It has the characteristics of high transparency, oil resistance, fat resistance, dilute acid, fine alkali resistance, etc., and it is non-toxic and tasteless, which can greatly increase the anti-fouling and wear-resistant ability of the board, and the appearance looks better.

UV plywood refers to the board whose surface is protected by UV treatment. It has the characteristics of high surface smoothness, full color, mature technology, and high-cost performance.

The difference between PET plywood and UV plywood lies in different production methods, different performance characteristics, different environmental performance, and different prices.

Both are made differently:
PET plywood is made of PET material, printing paper on the surface of the board, and then press a layer of transparent and colorless PET film; UV plywood is a decorative board, which is coated with UV paint on the surface of the board, and then cured with ultraviolet light, Formed a decorative plate.

The performance characteristics of the two are different:
The overall hardness of PET plywood is relatively high, which can bring high toughness and relatively stable size, so it is more suitable for decoration on the surface of the sheet, and its scratch resistance is relatively good, mainly because of its high hardness, when cutting It is not easy to chip, but if the selected adhesive is of poor quality, the surface of the material is prone to bulge.

The environmental performance of the two is different:
The environmental protection performance of UV plywood is relatively outstanding. Generally speaking, its surface hardness can reach about 3h, so its hardness is relatively high. However, it is not suitable as a customized board for the whole house. The phenomenon of chipping is easy to occur in the process.

Both have different prices:
Because of the cost, PET is generally only made on one side, but even so, the cost of PET plywood is tens of dollars higher than that of ordinary UV plywood.

So how should we distinguish between these two finishes?
Here we take the high-gloss version as an example. The UV board is coated with a thin layer of paint on the surface of the board, so it is relatively thin. The PET film is generally thicker, about 0.5 mm. This difference in thickness can be easily seen from the cross-section before the edge sealing of the board. After sealing the edge, we can also use an oily marker to distinguish because PET is oil-resistant, so the traces drawn by the marker are easy to wipe off, but UV can’t be wiped off.
