What is a UV laminated panel?

What is UV? UV is a kind of light-curing paint, which can be cured under the irradiation of ultraviolet light. After a certain process, it becomes the decorative surface of the board.

The UV laminated panel generally refers to the board made of this finishing process. According to the final effect, the UV laminated panel has two forms: skin feeling and high gloss. It is mainly used for wardrobes and cabinet door panels, and the base materials mainly include density boards, particle boards, etc.

UV laminated panels are characterized by high surface smoothness, full color, mature technology, and high-cost performance. The disadvantage is that it is not scratch-resistant and easy to scratch. If the quality of UV paint is not good, oxidation yellowing, and other phenomena may also occur.

We said above that UV can do a skin-feeling effect, so what is the difference between it and today’s hot excimer skin-feeling board? Aside from the details of the process, the biggest difference between the two lies in the ultraviolet light source. Their core principle is to use ultraviolet rays to irradiate UV paint to form skin-feeling effects. The wavelength of traditional UV lamps is generally in the range of 220-450 nanometers. The ultraviolet excimer lamp used in the excimer skin-sensitive panel has a wavelength of only 172 nanometers.

The narrow spectral lines and monochromatic UV radiation spectrum allow it to use more concentrated power for light treatment, so the resulting skin feels less matte and softer to the touch, and of course, the price is higher.

Finally, let’s talk about the disadvantages of UV laminated panels. Although the traditional UV highlights are not as good as PET, and the skin feel is not as good as excimer, even if they belong to the same UV process, different manufacturers have different production equipment and raw material quality, resulting in great differences in the final product quality. big. However, UV laminated panels are cost-effective and are still the mainstream products in the mid-end market.
